Bygone sash windows by Masterframe combine the charm of traditional timber sash windows with the performance and practicality of modern uPVC. Designed specifically for conservation areas and heritage properties, they meet strict planning requirements without compromising on energy efficiency, everyday usability or overall comfort.
Made in the UK with meticulous attention to detail, each window in the Bygone Collection features authentic period detailing, slim meeting rails and deep bottom rails, with options for mechanical joints, run-through horns and a wide choice of finishes. Masterframe’s patented Timberweld® butt-jointed construction provides a true timber-style joint, enhancing the traditional appearance even further. The range includes Melody, Harmony and Symphony, each offering a different level of heritage styling to suit everything from modest upgrades to the most demanding conservation and listed building projects.

Bygone Melody sash windows offer a cost-effective route into the collection, with classic timber-look styling and clean, ovolo-shaped sashes. They provide traditional character without the higher level of heritage detailing required in stricter conservation zones. Deep bottom rails and run-through horns are available for added authenticity, making Melody a strong choice for homes wanting period charm at a more accessible price point.
Bygone Harmony sits between Melody and Symphony, balancing affordability with more advanced heritage features. It includes mechanical joints, white gasket lines and woodgrain finishes that replicate painted timber. Harmony is ideal for conservation areas where a more faithful sash design is expected but full listed-building accuracy is not required. It offers a refined, traditional appearance with modern performance.
Bygone Symphony is the premium option, designed for listed buildings and areas with strict conservation rules. It delivers the highest level of authenticity, with slim meeting rails, deep bottom rails, traditional butt joints, white gaskets and hidden trickle vent solutions. Symphony is engineered to satisfy the most demanding heritage requirements while maintaining the energy efficiency and practicality of modern uPVC.
The Bygone Collection uses Masterframe’s patented Timberweld® system to recreate the vertical butt joints found on traditional timber sash windows. Instead of the usual PVC-U mitred weld, Timberweld® forms a sealed, square joint that closely matches classic mortice-and-tenon joinery. On the Symphony range, every sash corner is produced this way for the most authentic finish.
Timberweld® is paired with a textured woodgrain foil and offered in white, cream and a wide range of bonded colours, including RAL options, allowing homeowners to match heritage properties or create more distinctive contrasts.
As approved installers of the Bygone Collection, we make sure every sash window is surveyed, specified and fitted to the highest standard. Our team works closely with homeowners, architects and conservation officers to ensure the right range is chosen for the property, whether it’s Melody, Harmony or Symphony. From accurate measurements through to careful installation and aftercare, we handle the full process so your new sash windows perform as well as they look.
